Making museums work: writing successful grant applications

Arts Tasmania's Roving Curators will be holding workshops in Hobart, Burnie and Oatlands on how to write successful grant applications.

Topics covered will include:

• Just what does it take to write a successful grant application?
• Have you ever wondered why some museums seem to be awarded grants and others aren’t?
• Have you ever felt discouraged or daunted by the whole process?

You’re not alone… all museums depend on grants for special projects and exhibitions.

At Oatlands on the 3rd of March is a bumper session that provides an opportunity to meet with representatives from the Tasmanian Community Fund, National Library of Australia - Community Heritage Grant program and the Arts Tasmania Program Officer as they present a workshop to help take the stress out of grant applications. They will explain a little more about their respecitive grant programs and discuss how to create an application that will make Selection Panels sit up and take notice.

The other two sessions (Burnie, 10 March 2011  and Hobart, 11 March 2011) will provide general grant writing guidance . Along with the information session we’ll set up a series of fifteen minute 'speed dates' for participants  to meet with the Program Officer and discuss specific issues and application requirements with her.
