Small Museums and Collections 2016

Feedback from the assessment panel

The Panel noted that demand for Roving Curator time in 2016 was high. It was able to recommend an allocation to all applicants for Roving Curator time but unfortunately had to reduce the number of days of Roving Curator time for some applicants to do so.

The Panel advised that there should not be an expectation of ongoing Roving Curator support every year, and requested the understanding of applicants. With the increasing number of applications, there may be some applications that cannot be supported in the future. One way of ensuring the maximum outcomes from the Roving Curator resource could be to assist collections in alternate years, rather than every year. The Panel will continue to look at ways to ensure that all worthy proposals were supported.

The Panel noted its intent to not support any reallocation of projects supported in 2016 into 2017, but instead to curtail the project if required. The Panel reminded successful applicants of the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board's ruling that it would not approve retrospective changes to programs, and that requests for variations should be made as early as possible in consultation with Arts Tasmania's Program Officers or Roving Curators.
