Tasmanian Aboriginal Arts Mentoring Scheme 2018-19

This program aims to develop the capacity of young Tasmanian Aboriginal arts and cultural practitioners (aged 25 years and under) through a mentorship.

Young Tasmanian Aboriginal artists are encouraged to apply for funding to undertake projects that enable them to further their careers, enrich their artistic practice and contribute to Tasmania's arts sector.

Grants

Arts Tasmania uses peer assessors, drawn from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register, to recommend activities for support.

The peers recommended four projects be supported with funds of $40 000 in this round.

Jamie Graham - $10 000 towards a mentorship with Tasmania Performs

Fiona Hughes - $10 000 towards delivering a mentorship program through Pakana Cultural Learning Services

Madeline Wells - $10 000 towards a filming mentorship with Women of the Island

Grace Williams-Mahon - $10 000 towards a visual arts and social wellbeing mentorship program

Feedback from the expert peers

The peers recommended that future applicants make sure that they have supporting documents relevant to their project. They also encouraged confirmation letters from mentors.
