Tasmanian Aboriginal Arts Mentoring Scheme

This program supports mentorships that develop the capacity of young or emerging Tasmanian Aboriginal artists.

Closes: 15 April 2024

This round supports activities after 1 August 2024.

We will contact you about your application within ten weeks of the closing date.

    As the applicant, you must be:

    • a Tasmanian Aboriginal artist aged 25 years and under
    • a Tasmanian Aboriginal artist in their first five years of artistic practice
    • a Tasmanian arts organisation proposing to mentor a young Aboriginal artist.

    You must also meet our general eligibility requirements and the Tasmanian Government's eligibility policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs.

    How much can I apply for?

    • You can apply for $10 000 per mentorship.

    You cannot use grant funds to purchase equipment.

    Applications will be assessed by a panel of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people using the criteria of:

    Quality

    • Is the activity conceptually strong?
    • Why is the activity important?
    • Are the people involved experienced, or show the potential to develop and grow?
    Planning
    • Is the activity financially feasible?
    • Is the timeline reasonable and achievable?
    • What partnerships are in place to help the activity?

    Benefit

    • How does the proposed activity benefit the applicant, the artist, or the community?
    • What is the   audience experience?
