Aboriginal Arts Program 2019-20
The Minister for the Arts has approved funding of $31 987 to support six Aboriginal artists to undertake projects that that stimulate contemporary, traditional and non-traditional Aboriginal artforms and practice.
Funding recommendations were made by expert peers drawn from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.
Grants
Allan Mansell - $5 950 towards developing a new body of work, Coming Home.
Archipelago Productions - $4 437 towards a professional acting debut for Aboriginal performer, Kartanya Maynard.
Belynda Hooper - $5 000 towards researching Tasmania’s Aboriginal men and women war heroes.
Cheryl Rose - $5 750 towards developing a new body of work, It’s all sorry business.
Delia Summers - $5 900 towards developing a new body of work, Drawings in the Sand.
Sonya Maher - $4 900 towards developing a new body of work for an exhibition.
Feedback from the expert peers
The peers gave the following feedback to help current and future applicants:
- Applicants are encouraged to speak with a Program Officer before submitting an application – particularly if applying for the first time.
- Applicants are asked to consider the artistic outcomes to their projects where research forms the base of the application.
