Young and Emerging Artist Professional Development Program
The Young and Emerging Artist Professional Development Program aims to support young artists and arts workers to undertake professional and skills development activities.
Applicants must be 25 years of age or under at the time of application or in the first five years of their professional creative practice.

Closes: 17 March 2025
For activities commencing after 1 August 2025.
We will contact you about your application within ten weeks of the closing date.

- Eligibility
- an individual artist or arts worker who is either:
- aged 25 years and under or
- in the first five years of professional practice as at the closing date for applications.
- groups or organisations
- artists or arts workers intending to undertake professional development focused on screen or interactive gaming.
- Engaging regularly in creative work: this could be freelance, paid employment, or volunteering.
- Showcasing work: if you are an artist, actively presenting your art through exhibitions, performances, or other public opportunities (paid or unpaid).
- Building a network: having connections with other creatives, demonstrated through letters of support.
- Tasmanian, national, or international residencies
- mentorships
- masterclasses
- attachments with arts organisations on existing projects or productions.
- residency costs
- masterclass fees
- mentoring fees
- travel and accommodation costs (including per diems)
- disability access costs (including travel costs for carers)
- materials (including art form materials)
- costs associated with child or dependent care.
- any activities that are part of a formal course or contribute to assessments
- activities that are not focused on professional or skills development (including creative projects)
- equipment purchases.

- Is the activity suitable and relevant for the applicant’s professional practice?
- How does the activity develop the applicant’s practice?
- Has the applicant demonstrated a commitment to their practice?
- Is the activity financially feasible?
- Is the timeline reasonable and achievable?
- Are there partnerships or collaborations in place to help the activity?
- How does the activity strengthen the applicant’s practice or capacity as an arts professional?
- Is the activity timely and relevant?

Arts Tasmania uses peer assessors from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.
Peer assessors are people who work in, or are engaged with, the arts and cultural sectors such as artists, administrators, or other professionals.
All eligible applications to this round will be assessed by a multi-artform peer panel against the criteria of:
